Golden Alec

A deputation from Furness Mark Lodge No 36 made its way to Egerton near Bolton to visit lodge stalwart Alec Brown who had achieved the marvellous milestone of 50years as a Mark Mason. Ken Jackson, Ken Boon, John Myers and Tom’s great friend Tom Foster made the journey down the M6.

Earlier this year Alec moved from Barrow in Furness to live with his daughter Pauline Lewis and he was unable to make the journey to have a formal lodge celebration at Barrow Masonic Hall.

However the occasion did not lack anything in terms of prestige as Provincial Grand Master Peter Connolly was on hand to present the congratulatory certificate. He was accompanied by Geoffrey Lee, Rod Bennison and Stuart Brackstone.

Arousing special interest, and even envy, among the visitors was a rocking horse Alec had made for his grandchildren some years ago.
The PGM feeling a little horse!
The visitors were well looked after with Pauline providing light refreshments. Alec was obviously pleased to meet up with his Furness friends, the PGM and all those who went along to help him mark the very special occasion.
